Florida Journal of International Law

Home

The Florida Journal of International Law is a student-edited publication devoted to timely discussion of prescient international legal issues. Founded in 1984, it is the second oldest legal journal at the University of Florida - Levin College of Law.

FJIL primarily publishes full length scholarly articles, student written notes, and symposia submissions, but it continues to accept essays and book reviews. FJIL is currently accepting submissions for its Spring 2026 Symposium Issue on the law of defensive uses of force.

Currently celebrating 40 years of publishing, FJIL was the state of Florida’s first legal journal with an international focus. Since then, the Journal has maintained a prominent reputation and is cited in journals and law reviews across the country and in opinions from various state supreme courts, and federal district and circuit courts. It is also cited in briefing documents filed in cases before multiple courts of appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
